    In this paper we describe our ongoing work in developing a choreog-raphy for IRS-III. IRS-III is a framework and platform for developing WSMO based semantic web services. Our choreography framework is based on the KADS system-user co-operation model and distinguishes between the direction of messages within a conversation and which actor has the initiative. The im-plementation of the framework is based on message pattern handlers which are triggered whenever an incoming message satisfies pre-defined constraints.     A semantic web service-based architecture for the interoperability of e-government services

    We propose a semantically-enhanced architecture to address the issues of interoperability and service integration in e-government web information systems. An architecture for a life event portal based on Semantic Web Services (SWS) is described. The architecture includes loosely-coupled modules organized in three distinct layers: User Interaction, Middleware and Web Services. The Middleware provides the semantic infrastructure for ontologies and SWS. In particular a conceptual model for integrating domain knowledge (Life Event Ontology), application knowledge (E-government Ontology) and service description (Service Ontology) is defined. The model has been applied to a use case scenario in e-government and the results of a system prototype have been reported to demonstrate some relevant features of the proposed approach

    Web browsing is often a collaborative activity. Users involved in a joint information gathering exercise will wish to share knowledge about the web pages visited and the contents found. Magpie is a suite of tools supporting the interpretation of web pages and semantically enriched web browsing. By automatically associating an ontology-based semantic layer to web resources, Magpie allows relevant services to be invoked as well as remotely triggered within a standard web browser. In this paper we describe how Magpie trigger services can provide semantic support to collaborative browsing activities

    Web browsing involves two tasks: finding the right web page and then making sense of its content. So far, research has focused on supporting the task of finding web resources through ‘standard’ information retrieval mechanisms, or semantics-enhanced search. Much less attention has been paid to the second problem. In this paper we describe Magpie, a tool which supports the interpretation of web pages. Magpie offers complementary knowledge sources, which a reader can call upon to quickly gain access to any background knowledge relevant to a web resource. Magpie automatically associates an ontologybased semantic layer to web resources, allowing relevant services to be invoked within a standard web browser. Hence, Magpie may be seen as a step towards a semantic web browser. The functionality of Magpie is illustrated using examples of how it has been integrated with our lab’s web resources

    ClaiMaker: weaving a semantic web of research papers

    The usability of research papers on the Web would be enhanced by a system that explicitly modelled the rhetorical relations between claims in related papers. We describe ClaiMaker, a system for modelling readers’ interpretations of the core content of papers. ClaiMaker provides tools to build a Semantic Web representation of the claims in research papers using an ontology of relations. We demonstrate how the system can be used to make inter-document queries

    Verifying transactional requirements of web service compositions using temporal logic templates

    Lecture notes in computer science, 2013, vol. 8180 LNCS (Part 1)Ensuring reliability in Web service compositions is of crucial interest as services are composed and executed in long-running, distributed mediums that cannot guarantee reliable communications. Towards this, transactional behavior has been proposed to handle and undo the effects of faults of individual components. Despite significant research interest, challenges remain in providing an easy-to-use, formal approach to verify transactional behavior of Web service compositions before costly development. In this paper, we propose the use of temporal logic templates to specify component-level and composition-level transactional requirements over a Web service composition. These templates are specified using a simple format, configured according to scope and cardinality, and automatically translated into temporal logic. To verify design conformance to a set of implemented templates, we employ model checking. We propose an algorithm to address state space explosion by reducing the models into semantically equivalent Kripke structures. Our approach facilitates the implementation of expressive transactional behavior onto existing complex services, as demonstrated in our experimental study.Scott Bourne, Claudia Szabo, and Quan Z.
